The Gambling Control Bill, 2023 was published on 31 October, 2023 and went through the first reading in the National Assembly on 8 November, 2023 and was thereafter committed to the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Sport and Culture which issued its report on 25 November, 2023. The bill is sponsored by the Leader of Majority.
The Privatization Act No. 2 of 2005 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) provides for privatization of public assets and the implementation process of privatization which is by way of a privatization programme implemented by the privatization commission. Its commencement date was 1 January, 2008.
In Nairobi Civil Appeal Okiya Omtatah Okoiti versus Attorney General & 4 Others, the Court of Appeal held that admissibility of evidence irregularly obtained or where sources have not been disclosed presented the legal tension of the need to have a matter fairly, properly and effectively adjudicated for the ends of justice to be achieved against safeguarding integrity of court proceedings.
